Learning To Relax

It's been 3 days since we've been here in Jogyakarta and we're beginning to get into the swing of things. The weekend was spent catching up on sleep after the chaos of the last week.

The hotel is really pretty (couldn't load pic, will try again later) with its beautiful colonial architecture, much like the Raffles Hotel in S'pore. The perfect environment to relax, or in my case, to learn to relax. It has been a long while since I picked up a book to read for fun and this book I have in hand just happens to have 1088 pages! Have been feeling guilty over the weekend over the fact that I didn't take out my work to do. I had to force myself not to take out my jewellery making supplies and start straightaway. Felt so decadent just taking a swim or a leisurely dinner! While I did get to do some work today, am trying to take it easy at least for the next few days as I've been so highly strung over the past few months. Even on arrival here, I had all this nervous energy and just couldn't get to sleep but am so glad to be getting some rest now! Having said all that stuff about relaxing, I am starting indonesian language school tomorrow, 4 hours a session, twice weekly, and Karl says it aint easy. He had his first day today and it was major taxing. Already, he got dumped with homework ! He has individual coaching with 3 different teachers over 6 hours daily. No chance to hide behind other classmates, and it was just incessant quizzing and conversation. Kind of like having Gehlen or Neumann to yourself, he says. But the Indonesians are certainly less scathing. Or at the very least, they try not to laugh at you too openly.

Oh well....at least Bahasa lessons will be for me a distraction from making clothes and jewellery all the time. And we are both learning to cherish and enjoy each new adventure.
